What is the law of assumption?

Quick answer

The law of assumption is one simple idea. What you assume to be true about yourself and your life is what shows up. You pick the ending you want, treat it as already done, and live from it in your mind. What you see today is old news, and it catches up.

The law of assumption is one simple idea. What you assume to be true is what shows up in your life. That is the whole thing. The rest of this post is that one idea, slowly, with examples.

What an assumption is

An assumption is anything you accept as true without stopping to check. You have thousands of them. You assume the floor will hold you when you get out of bed. You assume your best friend will laugh at your joke. You assume the coffee shop will spell your name wrong, because they did once.

Most of your assumptions are about you. People like me. People leave me. Money comes easy to me. Money never stays. You did not sit down and choose these lines. You picked them up over the years and you kept them.

The law of assumption says these lines are more than thoughts about your life. They are what your life is built from.

Your life matches your story

Think of someone who is sure they are lucky. They find the parking spot. They get the last ticket. Now think of someone who is sure nothing ever goes their way. They miss the bus and say "of course".

Both of them are right. Each one is living inside the story they hold.

So the outside is not where change starts. The story is. Change the story you hold and what you see has to change with it.

Change the story you hold and what you see has to change with it.

It is already done

In the law of assumption you do not wait and hope. You pick the ending you want and you treat it as done. The community calls this living in the end.

Say you want a new home. Living in the end means that in your mind you already live there. You know where the couch goes. You know how the morning light comes in through the kitchen window. When you think about your home, you think from inside it, the way you think about anything that is already yours.

You are not asking for it. You are not chasing it. In your mind, you have it.

What you see right now is old news

Here is the part that trips people up. You pick your ending, you look around, and nothing looks different.

That is fine. The community calls what you can see around you right now the 3D. The 3D shows what you used to assume. It is like a photo. A photo only shows a moment that has already passed.

So you do not need today to agree with you. Today is a picture of your old story. It catches up with the new one.

The how is not your job

Your mind will ask how. How would that even happen? Who would have to change?

You do not have to answer. Your part is the ending. The path builds itself around the ending you hold. You never see everything that is moving behind the scenes. If a million people have to move to bring it to you, they will.

How you live it

The practice is small, and all of it happens in your mind.

You pick one ending. You put it in a line that sounds like you, such as "I am so loved" or "money always finds me". You say that line to yourself through the day. In the shower. On the bus. Lying in bed at night. When an old thought shows up, you do not have to fight it. You go back to your line.

You do not have to feel it. You do not have to believe it yet. Saying it flat still counts. Repetition does the work, the same way it did for every old line you carry.

And you cannot mess it up. A doubt or a bad day does not undo anything. You come back to the story and carry on.

Nothing is too big, too late or too far gone for this. You pick the ending. You persist. What you see catches up.

Want to see how much you already know? Take the law of assumption quiz.

Law of assumption 101 is the course that walks through all of this, one short lesson at a time.

Try this today

  1. Pick one ending and put it in a line that sounds like you.
  2. Say that line to yourself in the shower, on the bus or in bed at night.
  3. When an old thought shows up, go back to your line without a fight.
